Bel Ombre Nature Reserve has implemented strict hygiene policies and protocols in accordance with recommendations from the below organisations.

To ensure strict hygiene and cleanliness standards, bel ombre nature reserve is undertaking the Feel Safe label certification. Feel Safe is a label developed by Laboratoire International de Bio Analyse (LIBA) that verifies that the measures implemented in relation to hygiene, disinfection and safety practices are in conformity with the quality systems and procedures in place and in line with local and international standards as recommended by recognised institutions.

These safety measures apply to our employees, customers and partners. It is important that everyone respects all sanitary procedures to uphold a clean and safe workplace. This guide will enable you experience the activities in our reserve without any apprehension.

EMPLOYEES AWARENESS AND ENGAGEMENT

  • Our team members are regularly trained on Safety Measures in accordance with recommendations from National and International Health organisations.
  • We ensure strict respect of all sanitary and hygiene protocols for cleaning and sanitisation of our offices, our vehicles and all equipment provided to our visitors.
  • Regular Medical Check-ups of our team members are conducted; Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and sanitary supplies are provided.
  • Well-defined protocols will be followed in case of fever symptoms at workplace.

  • E-Vouchers and E-tickets shall be accepted on the day of activity.


SHUTTLE FROM HERITAGE RESORTS TO BEL OMBRE NATURE RESERVE

  • Our driver:
    • Cleans and sanitises the vehicle before and after each transfer.
    • Wears mask.
    • Welcomes guests by respecting social distancing norms.
    • Invites guests to use hand sanitiser prior to entering the vehicle.
  • A maximum of 8 persons is allowed in the shuttle (Maximum of 2 persons on each seat).


ARRIVAL AT THE WELCOME CENTER

  • Visitors’ temperature will be checked upon arrival.
  • Customers running a temperature of more than 37.3° C will not be granted access.
  • Sanitary gel will be provided upon entrance.
  • A mask will be mandatory; should visitors not have one, it will be available for sale at our reception.


COMMUNICATION UPON ARRIVAL AT WELCOME CENTER

  • Customer Safety Factsheet and posters on sanitary norms will be displayed for guests’ reference.
  • A briefing on our sanitary measures will be done prior to activities.


SETTLEMENT PRIOR START OF ACTIVITY

  • We encourage credit card and contactless payment.
  • We avoid handing printed receipts; it will be, as per your request, either destroyed and thrown in closed bin or should you request for it, be handed to you while providing hand sanitizer.
  • Credit card machines will be disinfected before and after use by our team.
  • Hand sanitizer use is recommended before and after any payment.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth during cash handling and we suggest hand washing after all cash transactions.


ACTIVITIES

  • Guests are briefed on all sanitary precautions during the tour, namely:
    • To maintain social distancing
    • To avoid touching another guest’s Quad or Buggy
    • Not to share helmets
    • To always keep hygienic cap in pocket
  • For 4x4 safaris, quads or buggy rides, water is provided to each guest in sanitized reusable inox bottle.
  • All guides wear masks.
  • Guests will be provided with sanitized equipment such as helmets, vehicles, raincoats and pens for disclaimer forms.


Discovery Trail Quad / Buggy

  • Our Quad / Buggy is sanitised before use.
  • Disposable hygienic cap is provided before wearing helmet.
  • At each stop guests are briefed to keep social distancing.
  • Only single quads will be allowed except for couples, partners and close family.
  • Guests are requested not to touch other vehicles during tour.
  • Guests are recommended not to share helmets and keep hygienic cap in pocket.


Discovery Trail 4X4 / UNESCO Biosphere 4x4

  • Trekking - maximum of 6 persons allowed and maximum 2 persons at a seat row when transferred to the reserve in the safari jeep.
  • During the activity, guide and guests shall maintain social distancing.
  • Hand Sanitiser will be available in the vehicle.


Mauritius Wildlife Trail / UNESCO Biosphere Trek

  • Trekking - maximum of 6 persons allowed and maximum 2 persons at a seat row when transferred to the reserve in the safari jeep.
  • During the activity, all participants must maintain social distancing.


Picnic Frédérica

  • All facilities (such as benches, cushions and toilet) are cleaned prior to activity.
  • Guests will be provided with a disposable picnic basket.


Bay 2 Bay Tour

  • Capacity has been reduced to ensure social distancing.
  • Our furniture and utensils are properly cleaned and sanitized before and after use.
  • The waiter wears a mask and gloves during service.


Our main preoccupation is your safety and our employees’ welfare. We strongly advise following all the above protocols.  BEL OMBRE NATURE RESERVE reserves the right to refuse access to anyone presenting COVID-19 symptoms. Our Factsheet guidelines are non-exhaustive and shall be revised accordingly with reference to any additional updates from recommended health organisations.
